"I have known
Byron since he was a kid growing up in Calera. Being from
Columbia, we were childhood rivalries. We always played youth
football and baseball against one another. One thing about Byron
as a youth is that he would talk a lot, he used that to him and people
around him. Whether it was during the game or in the neighborhood,
you would find Byron talking to someone. I was delighted when
Byron called and said that he was transferring to UAB. After our
playing days, we have kept up with one another. When he called and
said that he was planning a charity softball game between BAMA and UAB,
I was delighted to be part of his mission. Byron not only put the
event together for everyone, he went above and beyond to make sure that
all of the players were welcomed to his event. I will always
support his mission and what he is doing with his foundation and for the
children in Alabama."
