Fun/Day Sports Camp View Photos

The first event was a FUN/DAY SPORTS CAMP at Calera Elementary School on March 12th 2005. His foundation brought in several of the states top former football and basketball athletes from UAB, BAMA and AUBURN to work the camp. Former athletes such as Tyler Watts, Kerry Goode, Chris Goode, Pierre Goode, Uvette Dabney, Eric Nation, and John Whitcomb were on hand as was former Auburn Star and current Seattle Seahawks lineman Chris Gray. The camp was a big success for Byron, but he saw a bigger need for the Calera Community. He was shocked with the growth of Calera. De’Vinner now who resides in Tennessee stated he wanted to do more for the community that did so much for him as a kid.

Charity Softball Game View Photos

The Byron De’Vinner Foundation hosted a Charity Softball game on May 21st 2005.  The softball game was special in many ways.  For the first time it was a opportunity for everyone to see former UAB and BAMA football players going head to head in softball.  Former BAMA greats such as Jeremiah Castille, Derrick Oden, Antonio Langham, Joey Jones, Paul Carruth, Phillip Brown, Antonio London, Lane Bearden, and Darrell Blackburn were on hand.  Pat Green, John Whitcomb, Cedrick Buchannon, Eric Nation, John Holiday and many more joined Byron for the event.  The Charity Softball game benefited Children’s Hospital of Alabama and kids in the Calera Community.  Everyone left a winner, the game ended in a 11-11 tie.  Byron presented Shernina Gaiters with the Byron De’Vinner Foundation Scholarship at graduation.

Celebrity Basketball Game View Photos

August 19th 2005 The Byron De’Vinner Foundation assisted another local school in the Shelby County area.  All funds from this event went directly to Vincent High School’s athletic program.  Byron and former BAMA STAR Pierre Goode were invited to speak to the student body at Vincent Elementary and High School before the game.  The celebrity basketball game was a great success.  Formers BAMA stars such as Andrew Zow, Pierre Goode, Kermit Kendrick, Wayne Shaw, Steve Stanley, Antonio Langham, Bobby Humphrey, Lamonde Russell and Darrell Blackburn teamed with former UAB Star Eric Nation and De’Vinner to take on the faculty and staff of Vincent Middle High School.  Team De’Vinner came out the winner on the scoreboard 97-90, but the biggest winners were the kids in the Vincent Community.

" We are pleased to help Byron in his efforts to help our children in Shelby County.  We are proud to see how he has come back to Calera and made a difference."

"Anyone that's willing to spend their free time to help kids reach new highs in life, has my support.  After growing up in a small town where you could only dream of spending time with successful people.  Byron has taken the initiative to bring these worlds together.  Adults should think back to their childhood and remember the places they wanted to go and the people they wanted to spent time with."
