The first event was a FUN/DAY SPORTS CAMP at Calera Elementary School on March 12th 2005. His foundation brought in several of the states top former football and basketball athletes from UAB, BAMA and AUBURN to work the camp. Former athletes such as
Tyler Watts, Kerry Goode, Chris Goode, Pierre Goode, Uvette Dabney, Eric Nation, and John Whitcomb were on hand as was former Auburn Star and current Seattle Seahawks lineman
Chris Gray. The camp was a big success for Byron, but he saw a bigger need for the Calera Community. He was shocked with the growth of Calera. De’Vinner now who resides in Tennessee stated he wanted to do more for the community that did so much for him as a kid.
