"They were
discussing one of the newest sub-divisions in Calera (Savannah Point).
I truly had no idea about where they were talking about, until one of
the council members informed me about where it was located. That
tells you how fast Calera has developed and grown over the years.
This is why it is so important for me to return to give back to the
community that offered me so much as a youth." comments
De'Vinner.
Another area of change
in Calera is the love of sports. When Byron was at Calera High
School, it was a football power with basketball on the rise. These
days Calera High School is a basketball power. Just capping off a
state championship in basketball, Calera sent its first basketball
athlete ever to the Southeastern Conference (Vanderbilt University).
"With the
emergence of Calera being a basketball school, I am delighted to have a
charity basketball game instead of softball game." Says
De'Vinner.
